James McAvoy and Bill Hader are in negotiations to join the now grown-up cast It: Chapter 2.
The negotiations were reported by The Hollywood Reporter. McAvoy would play Bill Denbrough, the central character of the film. Hader would play Richie Tozier, the foul-mouthed character played by Finn Wolfhard in the first film. The two would join Jessica Chastain, who signed on to play Beverly Marsh in February after months of speculation that she was in talks for the part.
In the original novel the story was a split narrative, jumping back and forth between the adult characters in present day and their younger selves twenty years earlier. The films split the stories more sharply, separating the younger Loser’s Club and their older selves into two separate films.
It: Chapter 2 won’t hit theaters until September 6th, 2019, still 17 months away, but we’ve now learned from our friends over at OmegaUnderground that the film will begin production in July of this year and will run into October. As that’s right around the corner, expect to hear even more about casting in the near future.
