With all of the goings on between Fox and Disney regarding the deal between them for Disney to acquire Fox’s entertainment assets it’s only natural that people would be asking those seemingly in the know at Marvel about the use of Fox’s currently owned Marvel characters. With the recent press tours Kevin Feige has been doing to promote Ant-Man and the Wasp, he’s been getting a lot of these questions. But right now, he claims to be unsure about how they’d move forward with the Fox Marvel characters.
Feige told the Los Angeles Daily News that right now he only has a “vague idea,” on how to introduce the Fox Marvel characters should he be given permission to use them.
“My desire is to get Ant-Man and the Wasp in theaters and successful,” Feige said. “Then complete filming on Captain Marvel this week and to get the next Spider-Man on camera, then to continue to work on Avengers 4 in the cutting room. I’m very busy for the foreseeable future.”
Daily News seems to insist that Feige was “not entirely convincing,” when he told them that there are no set plans for the Fox Marvel characters like X-Men and the Fantastic Four in the MCU. It does make sense that they wouldn’t lay out a plan just yet to introduce them as the deal between Disney and Fox is not set in stone, so it’s best to not have a plan reliant on properties you may not be able to use.
A while ago, Feige said that he’s waiting on a phone call confirming that he can use the Fox Marvel characters. So, once that happens the pan will likely be adapted to included those characters like was done for Spider-Man.
